Stroll around Kyoto in a kimono! (Chion-in Temple)
Hello, this is musubi-kyoto.
Today, on my way back from a small event, I took a walk from Furukawacho Shopping Street to Chion-in Temple.
"Furukawacho Shopping Street" is a popular shopping street with pastel lanterns that look great on social media. They're fantastical and cute!
Just past the shopping street is the "Ipponbashi (Gyojabashi)" bridge over the Shirakawa River. It is a simple bridge about 60cm wide and is famous as a filming location in Kyoto.
Let's cross it.
Ha! I ended up walking the same way I normally do!
Once you have crossed the bridge, you will come to the old gate of Chion-in Temple, the head temple of the Jodo sect.
This is Sanmon, one of the largest wooden gates in Japan and a national treasure. The majestic world that unfolds before you is refreshing.
The temperature was warm today and the weather was nice, perfect for a walk.
(Today's kimono)
Homongi can be worn for shrine visits, Shichi-Go-San, accompanying a child to a graduation or entrance ceremony, going to see a kabuki or other stage performance, or even for a casual meal at a restaurant.
