Walk around Kyoto in a kimono! (Rokkakudo)

by 尾﨑由美子

Hello, this is musubi-kyoto.

Today we will be visiting Rokkakudo, one of the oldest temples in Kyoto, said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku. It is located east of Karasuma Rokkaku.

In front of the main hall is a willow tree of matchmaking, which is said to bring love to fruition if you tie two branches together and tie a fortune slip around it. May your wishes come true!

The fortune slips are presented in this adorable pigeon.

The Jizo statues at Rokukakudo are also wearing masks to prevent infection!

The expressions of the Sixteen Arhats, who are said to always be kind and gentle with a smile on their faces, are also gentle.
