Stroll around Kyoto in a kimono! (Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine)
Hello, this is musubi-kyoto.
Today we're visiting Nishiki Tenmangu Shrine, located in the Shinkyogoku shopping arcade. The shrine is primarily known for granting blessings for academic success, but since it's located in the shopping arcade, it's also said to grant blessings for business prosperity.
The many lanterns create a lively atmosphere.
It is also famous for the fact that the edges of the stone torii gates on the approach to the shrine are embedded in the walls of the buildings on either side.
As you enter the shrine grounds, you will see a Gagyu, a divine messenger of Tenjin, shining brightly today. It is said that if you stroke it in your heart, you will be granted wisdom.
White plum blossoms are beginning to bloom. You can see plum blossoms at the shrine where Sugawara no Michizane is enshrined.
