Setsubun celebration at Yatadera Temple with cute masks

by 尾﨑由美子

Hello, this is musubi-kyoto.

Today, I stopped by the Setsubun Kai, an annual Setsubun event held at Yatadera Temple near the Teramachi store.

Large demon and Otafuku masks are displayed at the front, and it makes me smile every time I see them.

The stuffed Jizo amulets are also very cute and were handmade by the head priest and his wife.

It is said that the shrine is said to grant blessings such as finding a good partner, praying for safe childbirth, and good health. Many Jizo statues with wishes written on them have been dedicated.

It is located at the southern entrance of the Teramachi Specialty Stores Shopping Street, next to the Sanjo Teramachi Police Box.
