Stroll around Kyoto in a kimono! (Gion Yamatobashi Bridge)

by 尾﨑由美子

Hello, this is musubi-kyoto.

Yamatobashi Bridge is a stone bridge located at the most downstream point of Gion Shirakawa, just before the Kamo River.

The original Yamatobashi Bridge was built by the Edo Shogunate, and the current bridge was built at the end of the Meiji period and has been renovated and repaired to the present day. It is a valuable stone bridge.

There are herons on the Shirakawa River today as well. Photographing from the stone bridge is quite picturesque. Cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons are also beautiful and recommended.
